What a great first meeting for SODA PTSA (Support of Different Abilities), with the Regional Director Cindy Kleinfelter and Erin Simon. I want to Thank everyone for attending the meeting this afternoon. I was a bit nervous but I think we are off to a great start and I look forward to working with you.
Our next meeting will be held on July 10, 2014 at 3:30 pm. Per the manager, Nichole, we will have space at the Segewick Subway as the school will be closed. Please mark your calendars and encourage your friends to join us!
At this time we will be deciding on our Mission Statement, vision and goals, so please come prepared with what you would like to see in these areas. We will also be deciding on a membership form which I will email the different options available. Feel free to add or delete information on these copies and send them back to me with your comments for consideration in making changes. At this point we are brand new and nothing is set in stone so please take advantage of this and share your voice.
We need 25 members to become a charter! More would be excellent. My personal goal would be to have 100 Charter members. As we found out tonight, anyone joining between now and October will automatically be a member through October 2015! No renewal fee this October, 2014!
Up for consideration will be member pricing….. couples, families, singles, out of state, Grandparents, etc. Right now I set it up as $15.00 to join, $8.00 goes to State and National PTA. $7.00 of each membership will go to becoming a Non-profit entity. We are also looking for donations to make this happen as soon as possible so if you know anyone looking for a good cause please share this information. We have two people who are willing to start a committee to help us reach our non-profit goal. If you have any strengths or desire to help in this area please contact me, Corinna O’Donnell, or Jessie Gonyon.
I know everyone has a busy schedule and this will be a dinner meeting so I would like to set a maximum time limit, any comments? Maybe two hours? Again I am open to suggestions.
Please share this email address with anyone who wants to be involved even if it is just to be updated. Make sure they include names, any areas of expertise that they would like to share and location. We are County Wide including North, Central and South Kitsap!
You do not have to be a Parent, a Teacher, or a Student to belong to the PTSA. Belonging gives you a voice in what is happening locally along with other perks offered by the State and National PTA and helps to give us a voice in Olympia. You can find out more by going to http://www.wastatepta.org/ , or you can contact Penny at SODAPTSA@yahoo.com for more info.
